World Health Organisation – Somalia Nairobi Liaison Office Title: Information Liaison Officer (Health Sector Coordination) Contract type: SSA Duration: 6 months, extendable according to performance. Duty Station: Nairobi with frequent travels to Somalia: South Central Organization: Primary Health Care (PHC) Reporting to: WHO Medical Officer for Primary Health Care Background: The Health Sector Coordination Office was funded through DFID under the 5-NGO Health Consortium for Somalia (HCS). The funding was channeled through UNOPS who contracted the HSCO Staff (Health Sector Coordinator and Health Programme Associate). In June 2013 The HSC conducted an Institutional Analysis of the HSCO Structure looking at organizational and governance arrangement. In July 2013, DFID informed UNOPS and HSCO staff that the funding for HSCO would be channeled through the JHNP. The Health Sector Coordination staff contracts ended on 15th September 2013. After various consultative meeting among different stakeholders and constituencies it was agreed by the resident Coordinator that in order to fill the gap in coordination and in light of the recommendation to move coordination to the country level, there is need to recruit a Information Liaison Officer based in Nairobi. This position will liaise with the coordination offices at country level as well as with all health partners both in Nairobi and Somalia; Objectives To provide coordination support to the health sector coordination bodies including zonal coordination mechanisms, HSC and HAB; To ensure linkages between the HSC in Nairobi and Somali health coordination structures in each of the three Zones; To maintain and strengthen linkages, and synergies with other relevant coordination bodies e.g., JHNP coordination office and to facilitate communication and collaboration on relevant issues.
