Vacancy: Hospital Instructor / Educator Background Jacaranda Health is a social venture that aims to set a new standard for maternity care in East Africa. We are combining business and clinical innovations to provide affordable maternity and reproductive health services to low-income urban women. We have launched one clinic in Nairobi last year, and are currently expanding to other locations in the region. Job Summary The Hospital Instructor/Educator role focuses on building the capacity and capability of the nursing and multidisciplinary workforce through the delivery of high quality, safe and effective clinical teaching and learning programmes. This role also provides additional consultation, leadership and education to managers, supervisors and employees on matters related to performance measurement and quality improvement. Responsibilities Identifies and defines areas for improvement and develop targeted teaching and learning activities to facilitate improvement Develop and deliver training and educational programs and optimize learning activities for practitioners both at organizational and individual levels; Incorporates principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of education programs Plans, prepares and maintains materials for use in educational programs for accuracy and relevance to the target audience Identifies and evaluates instructional materials in all types of media and formats Teaches content as needed and/or assigned within clinical expertise to facilitate orientation, staff development and/or safe practice Serves as an educational consultant to facilities, task forces, committees, and projects relating to policy, procedure and program development Identifies and recruits internal and external resources (nurse, physicians and other specialists) for educational activities Requirements Bachelors Degree in Nursing/Public Health or or its equivalent, Masters Degree a plus Minimum of 5-7 years clinical experience Three (3) years of applicable Hospital Instructor/Educator/similar experience Demonstrated ability to develop constructive interpersonal and professional relationships with diverse populations (administrators, physicians, nurses, aides, technicians and other personnel)
